The Sandman Triathlon is one of Santa Cruz Countys oldest triathlons, having held its inaugural race in 1985, in the infancy of the sport.
The Sandman is a fundraiser for:
* the local State Parks,
* Lifeguard operations,
* the Junior Lifeguard program.
Proceeds help fund scholarships for underprivileged kids so they can receive high-quality water safety education.
The Sandman Triathlon is a USAT-sanctioned event.
