For the first time Scenic Michigan is hosting a virtual run/walk and mobile photo contest fundraiser!
Scenic Michigan is a Michigan-based non-profit that focuses on advocating for, and protecting, the scenic beauty of Michigans landscapes. This includes fighting for thoughtful sign and lighting control, helping to support dark skies initiatives, working to enhance Michigans scenic byways, and more! This year we are hosting our first 5K fundraiser to help show-off exactly what we mean when we say _Scenic_ Michigan.
For that reason, we have chosen a virtual event to help encourage participation from throughout the entire State so that we can best showcase the best views that Michigan has to offer! That's why we want to help you use this opportunity to show off your favorite place in your hometown or anywhere in the State! Every year we host a photo contest that covers some of the best scenic roads, landscapes, waterscapes, and night sky visuals that you can find traveling throughout Michigan. For our 5K we are adding a fun option for participants to participate in a mini mobile photo contest to show off some of the amazing beauty you can find just while walking in your own neighborhood or community!
During your run or walk be on the lookout for something in your community that you are proud of! This can include anything from bodies of water, large trees and forests, natural areas, and downtowns or historic buildings!
There will be a thread on our Facebook and Twitter pages where we share the photos from the races, or you can post them yourself and just use the hashtag #ScenicMichigan5K. Additionally, a select few photo contest winners will be selected from our Board of Directors for additional prizes!
RULES
There are no rules for participating other than you have fun! There are three options for participating and sharing your time:
* No results: Just go enjoy your walk or run and then share or enjoy the photos we share!
* Virtual results: You can submit your time to [email protected], and you will be reminded to before the event.
* Tracked results: We have created a sign up on Strava Clubs for you track your time.
Once you are registered you will be added to the Strava Club and the winning times will receive additional prizes.
All proceeds for the event will be going directly to Scenic Michigans mission and the creation and publication of future materials, like our 2021 Award Winning Sign Regulation Guidebook. Additionally, participants will be sent a Scenic Michigan bumper sticker and have the opportunity to purchase more merchandise from our online store!
