This exciting event takes place in the charming town of Shinnston, Harrison, and features a thrilling 3.1-mile loop perfect for runners and walkers of all ages. The day kicks off with the Kids Gobble Wobble at 8:50 AM, followed by the main 5K event at 9 AM. Families and friends are encouraged to come out and support their favorite participants!
Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled day of fitness, but it also supports a great cause. A portion of the funds raised will provide scholarships to deserving high school seniors involved in cross-country or track-and-field programs in West Virginia. With cash prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers, exciting awards for the biggest team, and a costume contest to add to the festivities, the Shinnston Turkey Trot is sure to be a highlight of the holiday season. Organiser's Description
This course is a 3.1-mile loop. Runners/Walkers will begin on the road. The race will finish on the rail trail.
The children's Gobble Wobble will begin at 8:50, just before the 5K.
Chip timing will be provided from Pike Street Bikes! Bring your family and friends!
The Runners and Walkers event starts at 9 AM, and the Kids Gobble Wobble will begin at 8:50 AM.
Runners will receive cash prizes for the top three overall Male and Female finishers:
- 1st Place: $300.00
- 2nd Place: $200.00
- 3rd Place: $100.00
Where will the funds from 2026 go? We are excited to present the Shinnston Turkey Trot Scholarship again.
We will give $1,000.00 to one male and one female high school senior who is currently enrolled in a cross-country or track-and-field program in West Virginia.
Additionally, we will continue to allocate the remaining funds to projects in Shinnston.
Early packet pickup will be Wednesday, November 25 at the Shinnston Lighthouse on Rebecca Street from 5pm - 8pm.
Biggest Team will win the Turkey Cup!!!
Costume contest winners will be recognized along with some silly awards.
