Join us for the 17th Annual Stop the Silence 5K Walk/Run on April 17, 2027, in Houston, Texas! This inspiring event, first launched in April 2010, is the only national breast cancer walk hosted by a Black-led organization specifically for Black women. With a focus on raising awareness during National Minority Health Awareness Month, the Stop the Silence event attracts over 4,000 participants from across the United States each year.
By participating in this meaningful 5K, you not only honor and celebrate the resilience of Black women diagnosed with breast cancer, but you also contribute to vital programs such as the Karen E. Jackson Breast Cancer Assistance Program. This initiative provides essential services, including funding for 3D mammograms for uninsured women and financial assistance for those currently undergoing treatment. FIRST LAUNCHED IN APRIL 2010, THE SISTERS NETWORK INC. STOP THE SILENCE NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN BREAST CANCER 5K WALK/RUN IS THE FIRST AND ONLY NATIONAL BREAST CANCER WALK HOSTED BY A BLACK-LED ORGANIZATION FOR BLACK WOMEN. THE WALK IS HOSTED IN APRIL TO DRAW ATTENTION TO NATIONAL MINORITY HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH.
OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS, MORE THAN 4,000 PARTICIPANTS FROM AROUND THE UNITED STATES TRAVEL TO HOUSTON, TEXAS ANNUALLY TO HONOR AND CELEBRATE BLACK WOMEN DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER. A PORTION OF THE FUNDS RAISED FROM THE STOP THE SILENCE WALK BENEFITS SISTERS NETWORK INC. KAREN E. JACKSON BREAST CANCER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (BCAP).
