Get ready for the 12th Annual Solar 5K/15K taking place on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in the scenic McKeesport, Allegheny! This exciting summer race, formerly known as the Polar Vortex, offers participants a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a flat and fast course along the beautiful rails-to-trails trail on crushed limestone. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, you'll have the chance to choose between the 5K and 15K distances, making it a perfect event for everyone.
Registration opens bright and early at 7 AM, and awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as masters winners and top three finishers in various age categories. Plus, all proceeds from this event will benefit the Elizabeth Forward Meals on Wheels, so you can feel great about participating. TEAM BRUNAZZI EVENT'S LOW KEY SUMMER RACE.
REGISTRATION: 7AM-8:00AM
Awards: Top 3 M & F overall, masters M/F, top 3 in each age group: 10 and under,11-14,15-19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39, 40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70+ (no duplications, medals will not be mailed)
Are you a cross country coach looking for a race for your team? Ask us about special cross country team pricing. (Middle/High School)
Course: Flat rails to trails trail on crushed limestone
Water Stops: Mile 1.55 at the 5k turn around and mile 4.66 at the 15k turn around.
Proceeds: Elizabeth Forward Meals on Wheels
Please no headphones or pets.

RACE REFUND & TRANSFER POLICY (EFFECTIVE 01-01-2016)
Team Brunazzi Events LLC has a zero refund policy.
You may transfer race or distance at any time before the race. You may NOT change distances after the race has started. Please email TBE at [email protected] with your transfer request. You will have to pay any additional amounts associated with the change.
SHIRT POLICY (EFFECTIVE 01-01-2016)
Preregistered runners receive a shirt if they sign up by a specified date when the shirts are ordered. After that extra shirts are first come, first serve.
After a race, shirts of runners that did not show up will be given to those runners that signed up race day. If you want your shirt but cannot make the race, please have another runner pick yours up.
No shirts will be ordered after the race. No shirts will be mailed.
