Get ready to lace up your running shoes for the 54th annual Sound to Narrows event, taking place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the beautiful Tacoma, Pierce area! This beloved community race offers participants a choice between the signature 12K route, known for its challenging hills and breathtaking water views, and a fast-paced 5K option that promises an exhilarating experience for runners of all levels. Families can also join in the fun with the Sound to Narrows 2K race for younger athletes, and the adorable 20-YARD Diaper Dash for the tiniest competitors. Celebrate the spirit of friendly competition and community pride as you take part in this cherished tradition in the heart of South Sound!

Organiser's Description

Celebrating 54 years of friendly competition in the South Sound. Whether it's our signature 12K route with challenging hills, spectacular water views, the occasional forest critter and trees that touch the sky - or our fast 5K route, be assured that you are a part of something bigger than yourself. YOU are the fabric of Tacoma and the South Sound. YOU are our community. YOU are carriers of tradition.

And for our younger athletes, we happily offer the Sound to Narrows 2K race or the ever-competitive 20-YARD Diaper Dash for the wee ones.
