Stride for Success: Great Debaters Fun Run for Scholarships and Civic Engagement Fund

Please join us for the 2025 STRIDE FOR SUCCESS FUN RUN, another hybrid philanthropy event brought to you by the Great Debaters Scholarship Fund, where you can choose to meet us in-person to walk or run the 5k at the Asbury Park boardwalk or complete it virtually from your neighborhood or favorite hiking trail. Whether you are a seasoned runner or first-time jogger, this fun and exciting race is designed for all ages and abilities. Lace up your sneakers and hit the pavement, or boards, in support of a great cause- to fund scholarships and promote civic engagement for graduating seniors on the Asbury Park High School Debate Team.



All proceeds of the Fun Run benefit the Great Debaters Scholarship Fund, a community-based organization dedicated to funding the college and career aspirations of graduating seniors on the Asbury Park Debate Team.



This year, we are working towards official 501(c)(3) non-profit designation, which costs anywhere from $275 to $600 in IRS filing fees, and we are expanding our mission to include civic engagement opportunities for Asbury Park High School Debaters.



Debate builds students' public speaking, critical thinking, and research and writing skills and research directly links students' involvement in debate with increased literacy levels, standardized test scores, and graduation rates. Debate gives students the skills and confidence to advocate for themselves and their communities, and now our organization is growing to facilitate experiential learning for students in the form of trips to the state capitol, district offices of elected representatives, museums, and other government and public advocacy opportunities across the state.
