Organiser's Description
Endurance Race Timing is excited to announce that we are bringing back the Sunshine Endurance 6 and 12 hour race for a second year! This race was first put on in 2021 by our friends to help us emotionally and financially get thru a very difficult time while Annie was going through her fight with breast cancer. We can't say enough how much this helped us when we really needed it and we wanted to bring this race back to help another family who is currently in a battle with cancer.
THE WHY
The race proceeds will benefit the family of Aaron and Natalie "Nicki" Maas. Natalie has previously won her battle with breast cancer, but unfortunately another type of cancer has returned and she is currently in the midst of diagnosis and treatment.
COURSE
The course runs through a working cattle farm in middle Georgia that has been in the family for nearly 200 years. The start/finish point of the 3.75 mile loop (7 laps is a marathon) is in a large open pasture with plenty of room for parking and crew set-up along the course. Most of the trail runs through pastures with a five-foot path cut through the grass. The mile of forest trails are beautiful single tracks with plenty of twists, turns, roots, and rocks to keep your attention focused. Keep an eye out for cows, deer, rabbits, and turkeys as we gain 335+ feet of elevation each loop over runnable hills and flat sections.
AWARDS
There will be awards for 1st place male and female in each race. No masters or age group awards.
AID STATION
There will be an aid station at the start/finish line stocked with water, Gatorade and all your favorite running snacks. If you have particular dietary needs (vegan, gluten free, allergies), please make sure you bring what you need. We will have some type of more substantial meal around 12 pm and 6 pm that is yet to be determined but likely to be hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza or something like that.

If you are unable to participate in the event, but still want to contribute just use the donate button. 100% of the donations will go to the Maas family. VIRTUAL OPTION -
Due to popular demand we have added a virtual option for The Sunshine Endurance Race. So many of you have wanted to support this great cause but are unable to attend on race day. With this option you can run as little or as much as you want and whenever you want and you have the whole month of September to submit your results. We will mail your t-shirt and medal to you the last week of September. Registration for the virtual race will close August 22.
