Event summary
Get ready to lace up your running shoes and don your favorite superhero costume for the Superheroes for Autism event on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina! This exciting chip-timed race features both a 5K and a 10K distance, with the 10K kicking off at 8:30 AM, followed by the 5K at 8:45 AM, and a fun walk/run starting at 8:50 AM. Participants will be rewarded with beautiful finisher medals as they cross the finish line, and awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as age-based awards.
Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to get active, but it also supports a great cause! All entry fees will benefit Autism Services of Mecklenburg County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing and services for adults with autism since 1979. So whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun day out, join us at McAlpine Creek Park for a day filled with community spirit, friendly competition, and the joy of giving back. THIS IS A CHIP TIMED RACE FOR BOTH START AND FINISH. (YEP! WE WILL BE HAVING CHIPPED START AND END THIS YEAR, WHERE YOUR OFFICIAL TIME WILL BE BETWEEN WHEN YOU CROSS THE STARTING LINE AND WHEN YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE!).
ALL 5K AND 10K FINISHERS WILL RECEIVE A MEDAL WHEN THEY CROSS THE FINISH LINE.
THERE WILL BE AWARDS FOR 1ST, 2ND, 3RD OVERALL MALE AND FEMALE AND AGE BASED AWARDS FOR MALE AND FEMALE.

This is the standard 5K course McAlpine is known for. FOR THOSE WITH STROLLERS, HAVE NO FEAR (OF THE HILL), we've designed a stroller friendly tiny alteration in the course. We'll have people on the course to make that clear. Also note, the hill has been cleaned up and the ground is smoother than it has been in the past in case you want to test it out before the race.
