THE DOWNINGTOWN RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB IS A NON-PROFIT SPORTS ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PLAYING, DEVELOPING, AND PROMOTING RUGBY IN THE DOWNINGTOWN AREA FOR EVERYONE FROM GRADES K THROUGH 12.
THROUGH ITS ENGAGEMENT WITH LOCAL FAMILIES AND YOUTH, DOWNINGTOWN RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB HELPS EXPAND THE FASTEST-GROWING SPORT IN THE USA.
THE DOWNINGTOWN RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB WAS FOUNDED IN 1996 TO ATTRACT STUDENT-ATHLETES TO THE TEAM-ORIENTED ENVIRONMENT, SPORTSMANSHIP FOCUS, AND EXCITEMENT OF PLAY THAT RUGBY HAS TO OFFER. PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR FAMILIES WILL FIND A WELCOMING, SUPPORTIVE CULTURE THAT SERVES NOT SIMPLY TO IMPROVE RUGBY SKILLS BUT ALSO TO STRENGTHEN YOUTHS SENSE OF SELF, DISCIPLINE, AND DRIVE.
FROM ITS INCEPTION, THE CLUB HAS BEEN COACHED AND MANAGED BY AN ALL-VOLUNTEER GROUP OF PARENTS, FORMER PLAYERS, AND RUGBY ENTHUSIASTS. IN DOING THIS, WE KEEP THE COST AS LOW AS POSSIBLE SO ALL KIDS, REGARDLESS OF SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUND, CAN EXPERIENCE THIS INCREDIBLE SPORT. THE CLUB COSTS COVER EQUIPMENT, UNIFORMS, INSURANCE, COACHES' TRAINING, MEDICAL STAFF, REFEREES, AND FIELD RENTALS FOR MATCHES AND PRACTICES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
