The DezyStrong Foundation 5K

The DezyStrong Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that was established by Matthew “Dezy” DiStefano, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer in February of 2019.

AWARDS:
•        Top male and female finishers overall (5K)
•        Top three (3) males and females in the following age groups:
14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85
AMENITIES:
•        T-shirts guaranteed for pre-registered participants only (by December 1st at midnight), a few extras for day-of registrants on a first come basis!
•        Post-race refreshments
•        Post-race awards ceremony
CHECK-IN:
Day of race registration and check-in for all participants will open at 7:30 AM. Registration and check-in table will be inside Sachem North High School. No bibs or tags will be given after 8:15 AM for the Fun Run and 8:30 AM for the 5K.

5K START: 9:00 AM

About the DezyStrong Foundation:
In the midst of his own cancer battle, Dezy chose to spread the message of a “Strong Mind Strong Body” mentality to help motivate and ultimately inspire others. Throughout the course of Dezy’s 11-month battle with cancer, he had the courage to put his message first, speaking to and influencing as many people as possible. Dezy was proud to have spoken at universities such as Duke, UNC and Hofstra to help athletes understand the importance of a positive mindset and a healthy approach to living. The message of the DezyStrong Foundation has reached thousands of people.   Dezy’s “We Get To” mantra has become a common term among our foundation supporters.  The DezyStrong Foundation is proud to carry on Dezy’s legacy.  Our mission is to provide the opportunity for individuals who are fighting cancer to have access to support that affects a positive mental-well being.   You can help too.  We encourage you to get involved to support this important initiative.  Whether by making a monetary donation, attending an event, or by volunteering your time, you can help support those in their fight against cancer.
