Join us for the Ted Corbitt 50K on Sunday, January 28, 2024, in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, Kings! This exciting event celebrates the life and legacy of Theodore "Ted" Corbitt, a trailblazer in American long-distance running. The 50K race is a nod to the distance that Ted often trained for, making it a fitting tribute to his contributions to the sport. Participants can enjoy the flexibility of completing the distance over consecutive days between January 15th and January 31st, 2024, or take on the challenge in one go on race day!
Your registration includes a stylish race shirt and a stunning medal, both of which will be awarded upon completion. Whether you choose to run in-person or virtually, your participation helps preserve the legacy of a remarkable figure in running history. Come out, support the cause, and be part of this uplifting community event that honors Black excellence in athletics!

In keeping with the tradition of honoring the life and legacy of the father of American long-distance running, Theodore 'Ted' Corbitt, Black Men Run NYC/The NYC Way will continue to honor Ted Corbitt's birthday with our yearly 50k.
Price includes medals, shirt, and participation option. Race medals and shirts will be received after ALL finishers in person and virtual have submitted/uploaded their completion of the 50k and shipped within 2-3 weeks.
To recap: To mark the birth anniversary of Ted Corbitt (Sunday, Jan. 31), we embarked on an ultra-marathon to 'Ted Corbitt Way' in the Bronx - the 50K being the most appropriate distance since this was known to be a regular training run for him during his lifetime. As we move into 2024, We will continue the annual tradition on January 28th 2024, which will be open to the public with an option to earn a medal!
It's our ongoing tradition to aid in the preservation of the legacy of another Black man, especially in run history. We hope that you will join in and support us.

You'll also have the option to run at specific or consecutive days to achieve the full 31 miles. RACE ROUTE Grand Army Plaza Park entrance. - Head into park run a counter clockwise loop. - Exit park heading North towards Flatbush Ave, Continue on Flatbush Ave. - Turn Left on Tillary St, Turn Right on Brooklyn Bridge Blvd. - Continue on Brooklyn Bridge. - Turn Left on Park Row. - Turn Left on Broadway heading South, Right on Battery Pl. - Turn Right on Hudson River Greenway foot path, head North to 59th Street. - Exit Right off the footpath onto 59th Street. - Head east towards 9th Avenue. - Make left on Columbus Ave, Right 60th Street. - Staying straight towards Columbus Circle entering Central Park, head into park run a clockwise "Ted Corbitt Loop". - Exit park at Columbus Circle entrance, head towards 60th St heading west. - Left on 9th Ave, Right on 59th St heading back to Hudson River Greenway (Westside Hwy), Right turn onto Hudson Greenway heading North. - Exit Hudson Greenway onto Riverside Dr heading East. - Turn Left on Broadway, head North towards Bronx. - End at W 228th & Ted Corbitt Way. -

You can split it up however you want and wherever you are. For example, you can do 10 miles on 1/28, 5 miles on 1/29, and 13 miles on 1/30, and 3miles on 1/31 -- it's all up to you!
