Join the fight against cancer on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Tread Out Cancer Charity Team Relay in Topeka, Shawnee! This exciting event invites teams of up to six participants, aged 16 and older, to walk or run on a treadmill for a remarkable 12 hours. For just $30 per person, you'll not only contribute to a worthy cause—$20 of your entry fee goes directly to fundraising—but also enjoy a fun-filled day of camaraderie and competition. Coordinate with your team to divide the hours as you see fit, ensuring that someone is always on the treadmill, with quick transitions of no more than five minutes to keep the miles rolling.
Throughout the day, teams will compete for top mileage, with the leading teams choosing where to direct 50%, 35%, and 15% of the funds raised among three deserving local organizations: Cotton O'Neil Clinics at Stormont Vail Health, KU Cancer Center at St. Francis, and the US Veterans Department of Affairs Hospital in Topeka. Organiser's Description
Get your team together and let's TREAD OUT CANCER. Put together a team of up to 6 people (team members must be at least 16 years of age) and walk or run on a treadmill for 12 hours. The team fee is $30.00 per person. $20 will go to the fundraiser and the other $10 is the daily fee for Colaw Fitness. Shirts for the event will be additional through the runsignup site. Your team can do outside fundraising also. The team can divide up the hours any way you want BUT someone has to be going on the treadmill at all times. The pause for switching people is a delay no longer than 5 minutes or your miles will start over. We will be coming around and writing down mileage every hour just in case of treadmill failure. The top mileage team will choose where 50% of the monies raised goes, next top mileage team chooses 35% and the third team chooses 15%.
The three locations have been chosen for the donations. They are:
1) Cotton O'Neil Clinics at Stormont Vail Health
2) KU Cancer Center at St. Francis
3) US Veterans Department of Affairs Hospital in Topeka
The monies will go towards the benevolent funds that help patients pay bills while they are in treatment, and transportation to get to treatment.
