The DEMOCRACY AWARENESS PROJECT honors the legendary runner who rallied the citizens of Athens to man the walls until the return of their victorious army. Facing the imminent threat of a Persian naval invasion, this runner's heroic message inspired average citizens to unite and defend the cradle of democracy in 490 BC.
Democracy has had a good run of over 2,500 years and Americas almost 250 years of a democratic experiment must continue.
