Set against the stunning backdrop of Salisbury Beach in Essex, this exhilarating event features both a 5K and a 10K road race, starting simultaneously at 11:30 AM. Participants will enjoy flat and fast courses along the picturesque beachfront roads, ensuring a delightful running experience without any sandy terrain.
Join fellow runners for a post-race celebration at the Carousel, complete with music, beer, and plenty of fun! Don't forget to take a refreshing plunge into the ocean to truly embrace the spirit of the New Year. With entry caps in place for safety and logistics, it's best to register early to secure your spot—plus, the first 700 runners will receive stylish long sleeve t-shirts and two beer tickets for Riverwalk Brewing! Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, this event promises to be a fantastic way to start 2025, all while supporting the charitable activities of the Winners Circle Running Club.

Organiser's Description
The WCRC Hangover Classic features both 10K and 5K road races. Both races start simultaneously from the same line and both finish on the same line (with start and finish chip timing). Both courses are flat and fast entirely on beachfront roads (no beach running). Given the scenic beachfront location, many participants choose to take a post-race ocean plunge to kick off the New Year. Post-Race Party with music, beer, or and plenty of fun back at the Carousel for one more year!
The weather is unpredictable in January, its part of the adventure, but the race will be held regardless of the weather unless the roads are closed by the police (has never happened in the 43-year history of the race). The WCRC is a USATF certified, affiliate member of the RRCA and a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, who's goal is to provide equal opportunities for everyone to participate in and contribute to the sport of running - where all are safe, welcome, and have a sense of belonging.
