This year marks an exciting new chapter as the event transitions to a Team Rocket Tri Club managed race, with the beloved Race Director Leah Brown still actively involved to ensure a fantastic experience for all participants. The Wet Dog Triathlon is not only a chance to challenge yourself but also serves as a fundraiser for essential local organizations, including Tennessee Valley Outreach, Morgan County Rescue Squad, and the Princess Theater. As part of the Summer Sprint Series, the Wet Dog Triathlon promises participants a series water bottle upon completion and the opportunity to capture unforgettable race moments with professional photography provided by We Run Race Photography. Join us for the Wet Dog Triathlon at Point Mallard Park [https://pointmallardpark.com/] on July 11th, 2026 at 7:00 AM. This year will launch a new era for Wet Dog as it becomes a Team Rocket Tri Club managed race. Long time Race Director Leah Brown will still be very involved as we work together to make Wet Dog the very best open water sprint triathlon in North Alabama.
Wet Dog Triathlon at Point Mallard is a 400 meter open water swim, followed by a 15k bike ride and a 5k run along the beautiful (and FLAT) banks of the Tennessee River at Decatur, Alabama. Wet Dog is a fundraiser for Tennessee Valley Outreach [https://www.tennesseevalleyoutreach.org/], Morgan County Rescue Squad, and Princess Theater [https://princesstheatre.org/].
Wet Dog at Point Mallard is the second of three races that make up the Summer Sprint Series. Heel & Crank Duathlon [https://www.trisignup.com/Race/AL/Huntsville/HeelandCrankDuathlon] and the Huntsville Sprint Triathlon [https://www.trisignup.com/Race/AL/Huntsville/TeamRocketTriClubHuntsvilleSprintTriathlon] are the remaining event in the series. Each participant who finishes will receive a series water bottle at no extra charge.
