Organiser's Description

VIRTUAL CHARITY BIKE RIDE

Ride a Bike | Save a Life | Change the World

In 2026, Save One Life is excited to launch Wheels for the World as our largest and most inclusive virtual ride yet, bringing together our global community to celebrate our 25th anniversary. This fully virtual event allows participants to ride on their own schedule and in their own space, whether in their neighborhood, at a fitness center, at home, or alongside fellow community members.

Participants can track their mileage while cycling in their local community, or riding independently. No matter where or how you ride, every mile counts toward our shared goal of making this our biggest virtual ride ever, with participants from at least 25 states.

Recognizing that many in our community are unable to ride a bike, we are expanding our definition of wheels to include multiple modes of transportation so that everyone can take part. This year, we are especially excited to introduce a cross-country motorcycle ride as part of the initiative, continuing to grow the reach and impact of Wheels for the World.

Proceeds from Wheels for the World support Save One Lifes mission, including helping provide transportation for children in our partner countries. Every mile fuels hope, directly supports children in need, and brings communities together. Whether you are riding with friends, participating virtually, or cheering from afar, your involvement makes a real and lasting difference.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT:

2. Donate or Fundraise - All proceeds go toward life saving initiatives and direct support for those in need.
3. Join our Virtual Ride - No matter where you are, you can ride with purpose from anywhere in the world.

Together, we ride for more than just the miles we ride to save lives!

THE HISTORY

Wheels for the World is Save One Life's biggest annual fundraiser. Wheels for the World consists of many bike rides across the country to fundraise and bring awareness to Save One Life and the bleeding disorder community. The funds are used to support our mission and programs, which give direct financial assistance to people with bleeding disorders in developing countries. Our rides are a great opportunity to get outside, be active and connect with our community.

Wheels for the World debuted in 2012 when community member Barry Haarde rode his bicycle across the country to support Save One Life. Barry was inspired to give back to those living without the resources to manage their bleeding disorders. His first ride was a tremendous success and he would go on to ride a total of six cross-country rides in support of Save One Life, raising over $250,000 total. When Barry passed away suddenly in 2018, Save One Life wanted to honor his memory. This annual event recognizes Barrys contribution to the bleeding disorder community and encourages healthy and active living.

Save One Life is thrilled to announce Richard Williams as this years cross-country rider! Richard, a devoted father of sons diagnosed with hemophilia, has volunteered to ride his motorcycle across the country in honor of Barry Haarde and to carry on this meaningful tradition. This years journey will be a true Portland to Portland adventure, traveling from the West Coast to the East Coast by motorcycle. Because many in our community are unable to ride a bike, we are excited to expand Wheels for the World to include many types of transportation, making this initiative even more inclusive. Richs ride will take place in early fall, and we cant wait to share more updates and ways you can follow along and cheer him on as he rides in support of our mission.
