Organiser's Description
Awarded the 2021,2022, 2023 & 2024 Road Runners Club of America Marathon State Championship, the Whitefish Marathon has become one of the largest marathons in Montana. Over 1,300 runners registered in 2024 with sold out events in all three race distances. Adding to the excitement of the Opening Ceremonies, all race distances (marathon, half marathon and 5K) will start together at 8:00 AM in Depot Park and finish at the same finish line. The 5K course splits from the marathon and half just after mile one. The marathon and half run the first 13 miles together and split at mile 13 providing a larger runner crowd for the marathoners.
The city of Whitefish was chosen as one of the top-50 small towns to visit by TripAdvisor. Located just outside Glacier National Park, all three distances get a view of the beautiful mountains in the distance. The courses have been strategically developed to start and finish through the same finish line in Depot Park. Over 30+ states have been represented each year since 2021. It has become a 'runcation' for most with beautiful views at every turn. Stay the weekend and enjoy special rates from our hotel partners and visit Big Mountain Resort and Glacier National Park.

Enjoy the marathon course that is fast in spots, challenging in other and scenic the entire time! Marathoners run with the half marathoners the first 13 miles splitting at Depot Park before starting the second half of the course. Friends and family can cheer for you at the start, half way point AND at the finish without moving. The second half offers views along Whitefish Lake than out and back on a paved trail with views of Big Mountain. The last 3-4 miles will offer a steady decline to assist in achieving the time you have been training for! The course is USATF certified and a Boston qualifier -
