Organiser's Description
The wRECk Run is a 1K and 5K Run/walk to support the Granite Recreation Project. The out and back race will start at the Hall School and head west. Prizes for Best Costume; and First Male and Female runners to finish the 1K and 5K.
The goal of the Granite Recreation Center is to promote health, well-being, and enrichment for the whole county along with activities and programs attractive to visitors to ensure financial sustainability.
The following concept is under consideration:
* Small-scale facility will serve as a multi-purpose, multi-use recreation and community center with health and well-being as its focus.
* The envisioned building would be an attractive prefab metal and concrete structure with design elements that fit our local architecture.
* As part of a non-profit organization, access to programs, classes, and facility use will not be membership-based. Local taxes will not fund building costs, instead, construction funds are to be raised through private donors, foundations, grants, and related funding mechanisms. Operations, including payroll, would be funded through a sustainable business plan.
* Partnerships with the following have begun to be established:
* Local Medical Center
* Local Governmental Agencies
* School District
* Business Community
* Civic Organizations
* Community Leaders
