Taking place at Branched Oak Lake, this thrilling event will kick off at 9:00 AM, with check-in beginning at 8:30 AM. Each racer will receive a map, clues, and a punch card to help them navigate the course, which will take place along the scenic trails of Area 1 and 14. With a 3-hour cutoff time, you’ll have plenty of time to discover checkpoints and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow adventurers. Registration is just $40 per person, which includes a shirt, snacks, drinks, and awards. If you have never done an orienteering/land navigation style of an event you are missing out.
These events have been around for lots of years and originated in Scandinavia / Sweden in the 1900's.
They have become more and more popular.
It's always been a part of adventure races over the years but now there are many stand alone events with different disciplines. Solo's,teams of 2 or 3 are my divisions.
GRAB A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER AND GIVE IT A TRY. A GREAT WAY TO LEARN TERRAIN AND GETTING AROUND IN THE WOODS.
Location--Branched Oak Lake NW 112th & Raymond Road Area 1 shelter Raymond,Ne.
Fees--$40 per person
Fees include--shirts,snacks,drinks,awards
Registration closes March 7th
Check in--8:30am
Start--9:00am
Cut off time--12:00 noon
Format--Solo,teams of 2 or 3 person (coed,male,female) will get clues,punch cards,maps and info at check in.
Racers will have a 3 hour cutoff from the time they started.
Racers will use the maps and clues to find check[points located out on the course area.
Teams may use the Free App Handy GPS.
Course will be in and around the trails in the Area 1 and 14 areas.
Teams must check in with the punch card
Race gear--map case or gallon zip lock for maps ,instruction,snacks and a compass for this one. Easy to do!
A light pack for hydration and snacks ,cell phone,
This is a family friendly sport.
