Get ready for a day of fun, fitness, and community spirit at the 12th Annual Run Back to School 5K, 1 Mile Race & Fun Run on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Weatogue, Capitol! This exciting event encourages healthy habits for kids and families, making it the perfect opportunity to lace up your running shoes and join in the fun. The day kicks off with the Fun Run at 9:30 AM, followed by the 1 Mile Race at 10 AM and the thrilling 5K Race at 10:30 AM. Participants of all ages will have the chance to compete and earn awards, with a special focus on recognizing our younger athletes.
Not only will you enjoy a fantastic day of running, but every entry supports the Latimer Lane School and its students, contributing to enhancements in the physical education program. In past years, proceeds have funded exciting additions like a Gaga pit, sleds, and climbing towers, making a direct impact on the children's school experience. Registration opens at 9:00 AM, so mark your calendars and come out to support a great cause while promoting a healthy lifestyle! HEALTHY BODIES SUPPORT HEALTHY MINDS! GRAB YOUR RUNNING SHOES, FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND PARTICIPATE IN AN INVIGORATING, SAFE, AND FAMILY FRIENDLY RUN IN THE LATIMER LANE SCHOOL DISTRICT. ALL PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY BACK TO THE SCHOOL AND ITS STUDENTS AND PROVIDE ENHANCEMENTS TO THE LATIMER LANE PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM. PREVIOUS RACE PROCEEDS HAVE PURCHASED A GAGA PIT, SLEDS, A MAP FOR THE PRIMARY PLAYGROUND, A BASKETBALL HOOP, A CLIMBING TOWER, AND BALLS FOR EACH OF THE CLASSES (TO NAME A FEW).
AS A REMINDER TO THOSE PARTICIPATING, OUR RACE LARGELY FOCUSES ON PROMOTING HEALTHY HABITS FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES. THE MISSION OF THIS COMMUNITY WIDE EVENT IS TO ENCOURAGE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AND PROVIDE STUDENTS OF ALL ABILITIES WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE RUNNING AND THE BENEFITS IT CAN BRING TO THEIR LIFE.

FUN RUN:
9:30AM - UPPER FIELDS. CALLING ALL KIDS!!! THE FUN RUN COURSE IS BACK, AND WE'VE GOT LOTS PLANNED THIS YEAR.
* All participants that register by 9/12/25 at 3pm will receive a t-shirt. There is an option to buy additional T-shirts during checkout.
1 MILE RACE:
10AM - INTERSECTION OF COLONIAL DRIVE AND MOUNTAIN VIEW DRIVE. The 1 mile course will be clearly marked. Awards for elementary age group winners.
* All participants that register by 9/12/2025 at 3pm will receive a t-shirt. There is an option to buy additional T-shirts during checkout.
5K RACE:
10:30 - INTERSECTION OF LATIMER LANE ROAD AND VALLEY VIEW ROAD. SAME COURSE AS LAST YEAR WHICH WILL BE CLEARLY MARKED.
