Organiser's Description

SATURDAY AUGUST 30, 2025; 8:30 AM WALK START TIME

Several years ago Bridget started walking from Townsends Inlet to Hereford Inlet (approx 10 miles) as an end of summer tradition. Through the years, other family members and good friends joined the walk. Every year our Dad was at the finish line quietly cheering us on - plus he was our ride home!

We will do our annual trek again this yearthis time in honor of our Dad, Dennis J. McNichol,III [https://www.donohuefuneralhome.com/obituaries/dennis-mcnichol-iii] aka DIII. Our Dad was a lifetime athlete who loved exercise and the camaraderie it brought with it. We invite our many friends and family to join us this year.

WE INVITE YOU TO WALK WITH US OR DONATE TO SUPPORT THE WALKERS. [https://www.givesignup.org/Race/Donate/NJ/Avalon/InletWalkDIII]

All funds raised through this years Inlet Walk will support groundbreaking research led by Dr. Jay Storm [https://d3b.center/team-members/phillip-jay-storm/#:~:text=Phillip%2520%E2%80%9CJay%E2%80%9D%2520Storm%2520is%2520Co,Projects%2520within%2520the%2520D%C2%B3b%2520Center.] and the team at the Center for Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine (D3b) [https://d3b.center/aboutd3b/history/]at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. StormChief of Neurosurgery at CHOP, co-director of D3b, and a fellow Archmere Academy graduatewas a trusted guide and source of comfort to our family during our dads battle with glioblastoma. Were proud to honor his memory by supporting the work Dr. Storm is leading. One day last spring when leaving Penn after an appointment, our Dad looked over at CHOP and commented, "I have brain cancer and am older...those little kids have a bigger fight and deserve every chance."

D3b is a leader in brain tumor research, using technology, data, and collaboration to drive precision medicinean approach that helps doctors tailor treatment to each patient. The team leads local, national, and international efforts to unite biospecimens, medical records, imaging, and genetic information from thousands of patients. By analyzing these rich datasets, D3b works to uncover safer, more effective treatmentsespecially for children, who urgently need better options with fewer long-term side effects.

Proceeds from the walk will support D3bs full range of research efforts, including their leadership of two collaborative brain tumor research initiatives: the Childrens Brain Tumor Network (CBTN), a global effort to accelerate research and treatment for pediatric brain tumors, and the Philadelphia Coalition for a Cure (PC4C), a local collaboration connecting hospitals and researchers across the region to share data and work togetherbridging pediatric and adult research to benefit patients of all ages.

Your support helps advance bold, collaborative science and brings hope to families facing brain cancer.

ALL PARTICIPATION IS WELCOME! JOIN US FOR THE ENTIRE TREK, PART OF THE WALK, OR FOR THE 11:30 AM POST-WALK SOCIAL AT THE WINDRIFT [https://www.icona.com/windrift/dining/]WHERE WE WILL GATHER IN CELEBRATION OF DIII, TOAST, REMINISCE, LAUGH, AND LIKELY CRY...
