Starting at 8:00 AM, with a pre-race warm-up at 7:15 AM, participants can choose to run or walk a 5K distance, making it perfect for everyone from competitive runners to families seeking a meaningful outing.
Not only will you be moving with purpose, but you'll also be making a difference! A portion of the proceeds will support the You Matter Scholarship Program, aiming to award ten $500 scholarships to college-bound high school seniors from the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. With exciting raffles, giveaways, and recognition for top finishers, this event promises to be a fantastic celebration of community spirit and empowerment. Join us for the 3rd Annual You Matter Juneteenth Freedom 5K Walk/Run, a powerful community celebration honoring Juneteenth, freedom, resilience, and collective impact. This event brings together runners, walkers, families, and supporters from across the DMV to move with purpose and invest in the next generation.
Whether youre chasing a PR, walking in reflection, or showing up to support a meaningful cause then this race is for YOU.

Scholarship Criteria
Must be a graduating high school senior
Must be accepted to a college beginning Fall 2026
Students will apply by submitting an essay answering:

You do NOT have to be present at the race to win.
