The event kicks off at 8:00 AM, with a pre-race warm-up and program starting at 7:15 AM.
This uplifting 5K event invites runners, walkers, families, and supporters from across the DMV to participate in honoring the significance of Juneteenth. Whether you're aiming for a personal record, taking a reflective stroll, or simply showing up for a great cause, this race is for you! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the You Matter Scholarship Program, aiming to award ten scholarships of $500 each to college-bound high school seniors from the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. Join us in making a difference while enjoying a day filled with excitement, community spirit, and the chance to win fantastic prizes in our raffles and giveaways. Freedom Lap - One Loop Around the Park

After May 15th, shirts are not guaranteed. Limited race day shirts may be available while supplies last. Not ready for the full 5k but still want to be part of the experience? Or already running the 5k and want one more lap with the community? Join us for The Freedom Lap: a one-loop celebration around the park designed for everyone. Start time: Approximately 9:30am after the 5k concludes and awards ceremony is complete Distance: 1 loop around Fort Hunt Park Who It's For: Walkers, runners, supporters- ALL are welcome Vibe: Fun, inclusive, community-centered Your Race Director will be joining you for this lap! This will be my first time participating alongside you, and I can't wait to share that moment together. Even though this is a shorter event, you'll still get the full You Matter Juneteenth Freedom 5k experience including: Food, Music & DJ, Community Vibes, Post-race festivities. Plus, a portion of proceeds will go toward our scholarship fund for DMV-area graduating seniors. Your participation makes a real impact. Registration includes Official race shirt and race swag (if registered by May 15th) *******Does NOT include a Finisher Medal******
