For the little ones, the Kids Race starts at 1:30 PM, offering children ages 12 and under a chance to shine on their own 1/2 mile course, complete with disco-ball medals at the finish! Since its inception in 1982, the Resolution Run has been more than just a race; it’s a meaningful way to reflect on the past year and step into the new one with intention. Runners and walkers of all backgrounds come together, rain or shine, to celebrate community spirit and support a great cause, with proceeds benefiting Guiding Light Works. The Resolution Run: One Last Run
December 31, 2026 marks the 44th Annual Reeds Lake Resolution Runa New Years Eve tradition in East Grand Rapids. This 4-mile course around Reeds Lake is USATF certified, giving runners and walkers a fast, accurate loop to close out 2026.
The main race begins at 2:00 PM, starting near East Grand Rapids Middle School and finishing in front of Collins Park.
The Kids Race returns at 1:30 PM for ages 12 and under, with their own course and disco-ball medals waiting at the finish.
Since 1982, when Joe OBrien first gathered runners for this end-of-year tradition, the Resolution Run has been more than a race. Its a moment to show up, take stock, and head into a new year with intention. Year after year, runners and walkers come outno matter the weatherto keep it going.
Well do it again in 2026, and continue Joes legacy of giving back by supporting Guiding Light Works.
