Organiser's Description
Becky Baker was a longtime track and field and cross country coach at Indio High School. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, where she played tennis. As a United States Professional Tennis Association teaching pro, Becky taught at tennis and country clubs in Minnesota and in California, while competing in 5K and 10K road races and half marathons. She earned her Master's Degree in Kinesiology from Cal Poly Pomona.
Hired to teach Health and Physical Education, Baker was the head cross country and track and field coach for 23 years where her girls' teams earned a collective 23 Desert Valley League Titles.
Coach Baker was a pillar in the running community and a genuine advocate for youth. It is our goal to keep the memory of Coach Becky Baker alive while continuing her legacy for youth advocacy and empowerment through athletics.
