Join us for the 5th Annual 5K for Kappie on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in beautiful Athens, Clarke! This uplifting event honors the memory of Catherine Williams, a spirited young woman and beloved sister of the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, who bravely faced osteosarcoma. Participants of all ages are invited to run or walk the 5K course while supporting a noble cause. All proceeds from this event will benefit Cure Childhood Cancer, a dedicated organization committed to fighting childhood cancer through vital research and family support. Come together with the community to celebrate Catherine's extraordinary life and make a meaningful impact in the fight against childhood cancer!
Organiser's Description
THE DELTA UPSILON CHAPTER OF KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA WILL BE HOSTING ITS 5TH ANNUAL 5K FOR KAPPIE! THIS EVENT IS BEING HELD IN HONOR OF OUR LATE SORORITY SISTER, CATHERINE WILLIAMS, WHO PASSED AWAY ON JUNE 2ND, 2020 AFTER A COURAGEOUS 13-MONTH BATTLE WITH OSTEOSARCOMA. CATHERINE WILLIAMS WAS 18 YEARS OLD, AND A RECENT GRADUATE OF NORTH ATLANTA HIGH SCHOOL. SHE WAS ADMITTED TO AND EXCITED TO ATTEND THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA IN THE FALL OF 2020. IN THE WEEK BEFORE HER DEATH, CATHERINE ACCEPTED AN EARLY BID AND WAS INITIATED INTO THE DELTA UPSILON CHAPTER OF KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA AS A DOUBLE LEGACY.
