Join us for the 5th Annual Flag Run 5k on July 4th, 2024 in Boerne, Kendall! Runners will have the opportunity to carry a full standard size American flag, with prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place flag carriers. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and finisher medal, along with access to food, drinks, music, aid stations, and timing. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Boerne Fire Department, with last year's donation totaling $10,000. The schedule includes a 1 mile walk, 5k run, and awards ceremony. Several years ago, my dad and his friend started a yearly run on July 4th, getting a group of people together to run throughout the town with American flags. When I ran with them I would think, Why not make a 5k out of this? That was the beginning of the Flag Run 5k, and we've been dedicated to making this race happen ever since. Within the last few years, this event was made possible through all of our helpful sponsors, racers, and the community as a whole. Last year $10,000 was donated to the Boerne Fire Department. We were able to give a scholarship for $2,500 to a high school senior to go to fire school. This year, the proceeds will go to the Boerne Fire Department to provide swift water equipment and another scholarship for next years senior class. These items are not always able to be paid in the departments budget. The 4th of July to me represents freedom and I want to do my part in helping those that keep us free.

7:45 am Warm-up
7:55 am National anthem & prayer
8:00 am 1 mile walk
8:05 am 5k run
9:10 am Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall male & female and 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall full standard size American flag runners.
POST-RACE CELEBRATION
The Kendall Hill Country Inn (located northwest corner of the Plaza) will be serving Tacos from Compadres and drinks after the race.
