RACE: Looking for a challenge? The Takshanuk Ridge Run is a premier summer trail race in Haines, Alaska. This demanding 11.5 mile trail run climbs through temperate rainforest, along an iconic alpine ridgeline, and ultimately finishes in the center of Haines. Come join us for the 6th annual run between the sea and sky in the adventure capital of Southeast Alaska!



WHERE: 7 mile Saddle Trailhead Parking Lot.



WHEN: If you would like a ride out to the race start, there will be a shuttle to transport all the racers to the start at 7:30 AM. The shuttle will leave from Alaska Backcountry Outfitters (across the road from the SEARHC Clinic). The race will start from the 7 mile Saddle Trailhead at 8:00 AM.



PERKS: Beer/Root beer token for those who complete the race. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers and most improved time.



RULES:

1. We are in a wilderness area and traveling through bear country. Take care/be aware of the natural surroundings. There will be extra bear spray and air horns at the race start for racers to borrow.

2. In a mountain area, weather and conditions can change fast. Bring the equipment you think you will need to be safe. Only a wind jacket, food & water, waste bag or backpack, and bear spray are mandatory racing gear.

3. Racers must carry a waste bag or backpack and pack out any trash.

4. Respect the other runners and the volunteers. They are there to help you.

5. The race is semi-autonomous. Given the terrain of the course, there are no aid stations. Think about and bring the food and liquid that you need.

6. Excluding an emergency, no external aid is permitted outside what the racers can carry with them.

7. In case of injury or danger to another runner, you will need to take appropriate precautions and help until rescue arrives.

8. The race director has the authority to modify the route, reschedule, and/or cancel the race in case of bad conditions.

9. If you decide to stop the race, you need to communicate this to a race volunteer or the race director.

10. No doping.

Violating any of these rules will result in disqualification from the race.



RESPONSIBILITY: The TRR and the CVCRC will not be held liable in case of accident, neglect, and/or loss of the objects of each participant. Participants will be responsible for any damage that may be caused to themselves or others.

    Meet at the 7-mile Saddle Trailhead on Sunday, July 28th at 8 AM. All racers wanting a shuttle meet at Alaska Backcountry Outfitters (across from The Haines Visitor Center at 7:30am). There will be beer/root beer at the Haines Brewing Company at the conclusion of your race. Award ceremony at the Haines Brewing Company at 3 PM so racers can catch the ferry at 4:45 PM if need be. Non-Racers are welcome, donations encouraged. Race proceeds will be donated to the Haines Glacier Bears middle and high school XC running programs!
