Get ready for the 6th Annual Women in STEM Walkathon, taking place throughout October 2026 in Atlanta, Fulton! This inspiring month-long virtual walk/run event is not only a celebration of women in STEM but also a powerful initiative to educate, elevate, and empower HBCU women pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Did you know that women represent 52% of the workforce yet only 29% of STEM professionals? This event aims to change that by providing scholarships and career resources to aspiring women in these fields.
Participants can join the virtual challenge from anywhere, whether solo, with friends, or as part of a team, and the more miles you cover, the more funds our sponsors will match to support the scholarship fund for Black women in STEM! Everyone is welcome to join this uplifting challenge, which includes perks like a long-sleeve t-shirt, swag bags from partners, and a chance to win a $150 grand prize for the most miles logged. Plus, you can look forward to exciting in-person meet-ups throughout the month, including a community walk and celebration at Clark Atlanta University on October 4th. Organiser's Description
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are an oasis of cultural significance, both past and present, and are leading sources for black graduates. However, the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are still lacking proper representation of minority groups, including women. Did you know women make up 52% of the workforce, but only 29% of STEM professionals? Join HBCU STEM Education Run in an event dedicated to educate, elevate, and empower HBCU women in STEM through scholarships and career resources.
The Women in STEM Walkathon (WiSW) is MONTH-LONG VIRTUAL WALK/RUN that can be done anywhere you like! Participate alone, with a friend, or with a team to rack up as many miles in the month of October as possible. Our sponsors will match funds based on the miles accumulated.
