Join the excitement at the 7th Annual Flag Run 5K on Saturday, July 4th, 2026, in the charming town of Boerne, Kendall! This spirited event invites participants to run proudly with an American flag, celebrating freedom and community. The race kicks off bright and early with a schedule that includes a 1-mile walk at 8:00 AM followed by the 5K run at 8:05 AM. Runners carrying a full standard size American flag will compete for top honors, with awards for the first three finishers in both male and female categories.
Participants will enjoy a fantastic race experience, complete with a t-shirt, finisher medal, food, drinks, music, and aid stations throughout the course. After crossing the finish line, join the post-race celebration on the Plaza, where you can share your race photos on social media using #FLAGRUN5K. This year's proceeds will support the Boerne Fire Department, funding vital equipment and scholarships for future generations. With over 500 runners expected, come be part of a memorable day filled with patriotism, community spirit, and a commitment to a worthy cause!

Why do we do it?
Several years ago, my dad and his friend started a yearly run on July 4th, getting a group of people together to run throughout the town with American flags. When I ran with them I would think, Why not make a 5k out of this? That was the beginning of the Flag Run 5k, and weve been dedicated to making this race happen ever since. Within the last few years, this event was made possible through all of our helpful sponsors, racers, and the community as a whole. Last year we had over 350 runners and this year we are planning to host 500+ runners. Since 2019, $25,500 has been donated to the VFW and Boerne Fire Department. We were able to give a scholarship for $2,500 to a high school senior last year that went toward tuition at TEEX fire school. This year, the proceeds will go to the Boerne Fire Department to help with the purchase of a Wildland Paramedic Unit - UTV and another scholarship for next years senior class. These items are not always able to be paid in the departments budget. The 4th of July to me represents freedom and I want to do my part in helping those that keep us free. Camden Vicknair
