ALMAGEDDON Winter Triathlon January 17, 2026
Take on the ultimate winter endurance challenge at 10,653 feet in Alma, Colorado, the highest incorporated town in North America. The ALMAGEDDON Winter Triathlon combines fat biking, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing across rugged mountain terrain with breathtaking views of the Mosquito Range.
This unique event is part of the Race in the Clouds series, benefiting the Alma Foundation. Whether youre chasing a podium finish or the thrill of conquering the Yeti, ALMAGeddon promises an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Rockies.
_PROCEEDS FROM YOUR RACE ENTRY FEES AND YOUR DONATIONS BENEFIT PARK COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE _
Distances: This is an up and back course where athletes will climb from 10,563 up to the turnaround at the Bristlecone Forest Trailhead at 11,700.
* Bike (Fat or Mtn Bike) 4 Miles
* Ski (Nordic, Backcountry) 2Miles
* Snowshoe 1.5 Miles
* Ski (Nordic, Back Country) 2 Miles
* Bike (Fat or Mtn Bike) 4 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1646 (in 6 miles - yep its tough!)
Athletes must check-in by 9:15 am race morning. Athletes ski's and packs will be transported to T1. Athletes are required to carry their snowshoes on their packs and will switch to the snowshoe at T2.
Cool swag - yep!! All athlete's receive a one of kind ALMAGeddon beanie, super cool finisher award, post race food and beverages at Town Hall and age groups awards.
We have a course limit of 60 athletes for the inaugural year so please register early.
Given the limited field size of no more than 60 athletes we are only offering the following age groups:
* Under 23 (M,F)
* 24-39 (M,F)
* 40-59 (M,F)
* 60+ (M,F)
* First place overall (M,F)
Athletes will be required to attend a on-line course briefing to be scheduled in early December.
**NOTE SIGN UP FOR BOTH ALMAGEDDON AND THE ALMA DIRT FESTIVAL AND RECEIVE A SPECIAL AWARD

_NOTE: In the event there is not enough snow complete the ski or snowshoe portions of the event, the event will switch to a Duathlon (6 mile bike, 1.2 mile run, 6 mile bike). Athletes will be notified of any course changes 48 hours before the event. We are sorry but there will be no refunds for a course change._
