Get ready for a fantastic day of fun and fitness at the Always Ready 5K, taking place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in the picturesque Cape May! Organized by Second Capital Running, this landmark event promises a memorable experience as participants race along the scenic harbor and even have the unique opportunity to run through the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, the birthplace of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Runners can look forward to a chip-timed 5K, with instant results provided by South Jersey Race Timing. Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall finishers, as well as in various age groups ranging from 14 and under to 60+. Don’t forget to register by September 30 to guarantee your event shirt, and all finishers will receive a commemorative Always Ready Challenge Coin!
For those who want to include their furry friends, the Always Ready K9 Race offers a fun 3K run/walk option for dogs and their human companions, with medals and patches for every participant. Plus, if you can’t make it in person, you can still join the action with virtual races throughout October! Join us for a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and community

DOGS MUST BE LEASHED ON NO LONGER THAN A 6FT LEAD AND ABLE TO MAINTAIN A CALM DISPOSITION FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE EVENT. THE K9 RACE WILL START 5 MINUTES AFTER THE 5K. THIS RACE IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY OUR PARTNERS AT LEAD THE WAY DOG TRAINING [https://leadthewaydogtraining.com/]. EACH FINISHER WILL RECEIVE A LEAD THE WAY K9 CHAMPION MEDAL AND AN ALWAYS READY K9 DOG PATCH.
VIRTUAL RACES
VIRTUAL 5K AND K9 RUNNERS WILL HAVE THE ENTIRE MONTH OF OCTOBER TO COMPLETE THEIR BEST TIME AND WILL RECEIVE THE SAME SWAG AS THE CORRESPONDING LIVE EVENT. VIRTUAL PACKETS WILL NOT BE MAILED OUT UNTIL AFTER THE IN-PERSON RACE ON 10/11.
