Get ready for an exhilarating season of youth running at the Appleseeds Cross Country event, taking place from August 10th to October 14th, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Allen. This competitive cross country racing team welcomes children from Kindergarten through 12th grade, providing an exciting opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills and passion for running. Participants will compete in various races tailored to their age groups, with elementary school runners racing 1 mile, middle schoolers tackling 3K, and high school athletes challenging themselves with a 5K course.
Practices are held twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays at Franke Park, where experienced coaches guide and inspire the young runners. Appleseeds Cross Country is open to all children in the area, including homeschoolers, and fosters a positive and inclusive environment. With a full race schedule featuring events like the Eel River Otter Classic and the Home/Small School State Meet, this is the perfect chance for young runners to build confidence, teamwork, and athletic prowess. Organiser's Description
Appleseeds Cross Country is a competitive cross country racing team. Our team is open to kids going into Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. We compete in several meets throughout the course of the season, which are outlined below. Appleseeds welcomes kids from all schools in the area as well as kids who are homeschooled.
We have 3 age groups: elementary school, middle school, and high school. Elementary athletes will race 1 mile, middle schoolers will race 3k, and high schoolers will race 5k.
The race schedules will differ between age groups. Please make sure you register for the appropriate level based on your child's age. The grades are denoted in parentheses next to the name of the level.
We will practice Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning August 10th through October 14th.
