Get ready for an exhilarating day of fun and competition at the Atomic Kids Fall Triathlons on Saturday, September 26, 2026! This vibrant youth event invites kids ages 2-14 to dive into the exciting world of triathlons, taking place at the scenic Preserve at Oak Ridge. Participants can choose from three engaging race distances tailored to different skill levels: the Long Sprint featuring a 100-yard swim, 2.8-mile bike, and 1-mile run starting at 8:00 am; the Mid Sprint with a 50-yard swim, 1.4-mile bike, and 0.5-mile run beginning at 8:45 am; and the Tadpole Sprint, perfect for the youngest athletes, which consists of a 25-yard swim, 0.75-mile bike, and 0.5-mile run kicking off at 9:20 am.
This event is designed to be both fun and inclusive, allowing young athletes to participate based on their comfort and skill level. Come join this youth event of triathlon as the final race of the year for kids ages 2-14! Register for a choice of 3 races:
Long Sprint - 8:00 am start - 100 yard swim/2.8 mile bike/1 mile run
Mid Sprint - 8:45 am start - 50 yard swm/1.4 mile bike/.5 mile run
Tadpole Sprint - 9:20 am start - 25 yard swim/.75 mile bike/.5 mile run
Ages 2 to 14, can do any race based on distance and start time. For the tadpole sprint, the kids can watch the first race to get an example of how it's done. They are allowed to make use of water wings or a floatation device to help them "get their feet wet" in the sport of triathlon. The smaller kids may also use training wheels in the shorter distance.
Finisher medal for each participant, age group awards for Long and Mid sprint.
For this year, we are moving the fall event to the Preserve at Oak Ridge due to a scheduling conflict with the Community Center. We are excited for a new venue to try out for the kids races with a beautiful outdoor pool.
