Join us for our FIFTH annual 5K supporting the Belvidere Tornados Youth Cross Country Team. The race this year will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at 8:00 AM in Doty Park in Belvidere, IL. The course will start and finish in Doty Park with majority of the course running through Belvidere Park. This is a timed (chipped) race, with timing provided by Tri-3 Sports Timing. All ages and athletic abilities are welcome to participate. Run or walk the 5K, it is up to you. Participants will be in pack order at the starting line with the more serious runners in the front and our walkers at the back of the pack. We will be adhering to any Covid-19 guidelines that may be issued. In past years, we did not have to implement any Covid restrictions and don't foresee us having to do so this year. Races are chip timed (your time doesnt start and stop until you cross the start line to start and cross finish line to stop). All participants registering by July 29th are guaranteed to receive a Belvidere Tornados 5K shirt, a swag bag and a brand new custom FINISHER MEDAL! There will also be a trophy for Top Finisher Male and Top Finisher Female and custom medals to top finishers (1st-3rd male and female) in various age groups:

* 12 and under
* 13-19
* 20-29
* 30-39
* 40-49
* 50-59
* 60 and over

All proceeds are used to help support the mission of the Belvidere Tornados Youth Cross Country Team, with part of the proceeds also going towards awarding scholarships for the 2023-2024 graduating senior class within the Belvidere School District. This event also helps bring awareness to our community towards leading a healthy lifestyle for a lifetime whether you are a walker or a runner.
