Get ready for an exhilarating adventure at the Bluewater Canyon Trail Race on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the stunning Bluewater, Cibola! This exciting 5-mile trail race kicks off at the Bluewater Canyon parking lot, offering participants a thrilling journey that begins with a mile on a gravel road before ascending over 500 feet to breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and mesas. With three aid stations along the route, you'll have plenty of opportunities to hydrate and capture unforgettable moments with friends and family.
As you cross the finish line, enjoy a complimentary fruit and beverage buffet, or take a refreshing half-mile hike into the canyon for a dip in the cool mountain creek. This year, every finisher will receive a medal, along with custom socks and other goodies in their swag bags, while awards will be given to the top three male, female, and youth finishers. Plus, all proceeds from this event will support the Cibola Trail Alliance in their efforts to maintain local trail systems. Don’t forget to bring your furry friends, as they are welcome too! Join us for a day of fun, fitness, and community spirit at this unforgettable trail race!

Trail Runners Do It In The Dirt and the Cibola Trail Alliance proudly present, The Bluewater Canyon Trail Race!
This 5-mile trail race starts at the Bluewater Canyon parking lot, you will run 1 mile along gravel road before heading up over 500 feet to the top of Bluewater Canyon where you will have incredible views of the surrounding mountains and mesas. Stop for the views and many photo ops with 3 aid stations along the way to keep you hydrated! The race follows established dirt road with some rocky sections and is an out and back type course brand new for our 5 year celebration. Stick around the finish area for a free fruit and beverage buffet or bring your own refreshments and towel and take a short half mile hike into the canyon where cold mountain water in the creek waits for you to jump in and cool off!
Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female finishers as well as the top 3 kids aged 14 and under. All finishers will receive medals this year as well as custom socks and other items in your swag bags.

All proceeds collected from the registrations will be a direct donation to the Cibola Trail Alliance for their continued work on trail systems in and around Cibola County! Stop for the views and many photo ops with 3 aid stations along the way to keep you hydrated! The race follows established dirt road with some rocky sections and makes a loop on the mountain before heading back down to the Bluewater Canyon parking lot where you will finish. Stick around the finish area for a free fruit and beverage buffet or bring your own refreshments and towel and take a short half mile hike into the canyon where cold mountain water in the creek waits for you to jump in and cool off! Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female finishers as well as the top 3 kids aged 14 and under. All participants will receive custom socks along with other items in your swag bags.
