This uplifting event will honor the lives lost to drug overdose while raising awareness about addiction and mental health. Participants can choose between a chip-timed 5K run/walk or an untimed 1-mile walk, both starting and finishing at the scenic Black River Landing, located at 421 Black River Ln, Lorain, OH 44052.
The day kicks off with registration and packet pickup at 8:00 AM, followed by the race starting at 9:00 AM. This event not only provides a platform for remembrance but also fosters a sense of community and support. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, a finisher ribbon, and a purple memory candle to honor those we’ve lost. Plus, enjoy delicious offerings from food trucks after the race! Join us Saturday, August 31st, 2024, for the 1st Annual Overdose Awareness day - Breaking Down the Stigma 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk as we honor lives lost to drug overdose. The CDC estimated 107,543 U.S. drug overdose deaths in 2023. While this is a 3% decline from 110,029 deaths in 2022, this is 295 deaths per day. We will run and walk to remember those lives, as well as raise awareness.
