Join us for the 2nd Annual Breaking Down the Stigma Addiction and Mental Awareness 5K and 1 Mile Walk on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at Black River Landing in Lorain, Ohio. This uplifting event honors the lives lost to drug overdose while promoting awareness and understanding of addiction and mental health issues. With a scenic 5K run/walk and an untimed 1-mile walk, participants of all ages are encouraged to take part in this meaningful day of remembrance and community support.
Registration opens at 8:00 AM, followed by the start of the 5K run/walk and 1-mile walk at 9:00 AM. The event will run until noon, providing ample time for participants to enjoy the festivities. The chip-timed 5K is just $30 for general registration, while kids 12 and under can join for only $15. Everyone will receive a race t-shirt, a finisher ribbon, and a food voucher for local food trucks. Plus, top finishers will be awarded medals! Bring your furry friends along, as dogs are welcome too. Join us Sunday, August 31st, 2025, for the 2nd Annual Overdose Awareness day - Breaking Down the Stigma 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk as we honor lives lost to drug overdose. The CDC estimated 107,543 U.S. drug overdose deaths in 2023. While this is a 3% decline from 110,029 deaths in 2022, this is 295 deaths per day. We will run and walk to remember those lives, as well as raise awareness.
