Join us for the exciting Charcoal Challenge 5k Fun Run on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Gardners, Cumberland! This vibrant event, hosted by the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace, is a fantastic opportunity for runners and walkers of all ages to enjoy the stunning trails and roads of this beautiful state park. While there will be no timing or bibs, every participant will receive a special prize along with complimentary snacks and hydration to keep the energy high!
Registration is open until June 12 at 5 PM for just $25, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. If you miss the online registration, don’t worry! You can still sign up on-site starting at 8:00 AM on the day of the event. Make sure to arrive at the start line by 8:50 AM for the 9:00 AM kickoff. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome, making it a perfect family-friendly day out! Come out, support a great cause, and enjoy a fun-filled day in nature while helping to preserve and promote recreation at Pine Grove Furnace State Park!

The Friends of Pine Grove Furnace are pleased to hold the Charcoal Challenge 5k Fun Run on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Pine Grove Furnace State Park.
This fundraiser is promoted by the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace for the benefit of our 501(c)(3) non-profit. All proceeds support recreation, education and conservation at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. This is a "Fun Run" that shows off our beautiful State Park using several park trails and roads. There will be no timer/no bibs, but all runners or walkers will receive participation prizes and free snacks/hydration.
Online registration ends on June 12 at 5 PM. After June 12, you can register on-site the morning of the event. The fee is $25. Registration is free for ages 12 years and under. We also offer bulk pricing for youth running clubs (please contact us directly for registering a youth running club at the email address below). Event T-shirts are an additional fee ($20 adult sizes, $15 youth sizes) and are only available for registrations received by 5 PM on May 21.

OPENS 02 MARThis trail race (walking is also allowed) shows off Pine Grove Furnace State Park including both trails and gravel roads. There is a hill and minor trip hazards. Registration/start/finish are at the Furnace Stack Pavilion near the Park Office at 1100 Pine Grove Road, Gardners PA (address is not actually in the town of Gardners!). For mapping, use 40.0318331, -77.305694. Participants should park at Fuller Lake lot at 1050 Pine Grove Road 40.03221, -77.30201 and allow 5 minutes to walk to registration area.
