We're back! Join us for our 3rd Annual "CruRun" to raise money for missionaries Michael and Brenda Brent, as they spread the Gospel message to Croatia and the surrounding areas. Entry to the event is completely FREE! We WILL be taking donations at the church, or on the day of the race. The amount you give is up to you. You can run, you can walk, you can bike....whatever, but we want EVERYONE to participate in some way to help make this event a success! Trophies awarded for the top female and male finisher, and everyone that registers before the deadline gets a tshirt!
This race is to raise funds to support missionaries Michael and Brenda Brent, and their organization, Cru Croatia! Missionaries with Cru Croatia since 1997, Michael and Brenda help equip the current generation of Christian workers - national staff, missionaries and volunteers - for ministries of evangelism and discipleship in Croatia and Eastern Europe. Michael and Brenda address the need for laborers in the harvest field to continually develop their understanding and application of God's word, so they might maintain a fresh and fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ as they reach out to others (John 15:5). Brenda herself is a native of Manteo, graduating from Manteo High in 1986!
The course starts and finishes at Mt Olivet UMC in downtown Manteo, and is a fairly flat route that passes by the high school and gives participants a scenic view of the water. Registrants receive a tshirt, and while the race is not timed, the top male and female finsher receive an award.
The race route is really simple: starting at the parking lot of Mt Olivet UMC, runners run on Lord Essex towards Devon Street; take a left on Devon; right on Wingina; stay on Wingina past the high school; right on Scuppernong; then a left on Mother Vineyard, following it until it loops back to Wingina; left on Wingina; back past the high school; left on Devon; right on Lord Essex; finishing where you started. Route is 3 miles.
