Organiser's Description
Welcome to the ROTARY CLUB OF TEMECULA SUNRISEs inaugural _CYCLE FOR VETERANS_ Ride on Sunday November 10th. After the rave reviews we garnered from this past Aprils Cycle Through the Vineyards, we wanted to establish another event this time honoring our country's veterans and active duty military. MILVET.ORG was the ideal 501c3 to designate as beneficiarys of this ride. (See ABC7's news story below.) Their work on behalf of our veterans and active duty military is so varied that we refer you to their website. Please help support them by clicking the "DONATE" link above. 100% of your donations go directly to MilVet! AS WE HEAD INTO THE HOLIDAYS,_ YOUR DONATIONS NOW MEAN MORE THAN EVER_ TO HELP FUND CARE PACKAGES FOR THOSE SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE SERVING FAR AWAY FROM HOME ON DEPLOYMENT. MILVET ALSO PROVIDES A HOST OF OTHER PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR VETERANS AND OUR MILITARY FAMILIES! (SEE DONATE LINK ABOVE!)
This is a scenic ride through Temeculas beautiful wine country. THIS IS NOT A RACE AND WILL NOT BE A TIMED EVENT. The planned ride will be 18 miles in length over a route that will include hilly terrain. It is recommended that ebike riders should be of at least an intermediate level of experience. Non ebike riders should be well experienced cyclists. While the planned route will be mostly on lightly traveled paved roads, there will be short sections of maintained dirt road.
The ride is divided into multiple groups for safety purposes. The first group(s) will begin departing at 9:00 AM to begin the guided 18 mile scenic tour of Temecula Valley Wine Country. This ride will include all types of bikes including e-bikes, gravel bikes, etc. All groups will travel over the same route. This ride is designed to take in some of the best sights of the Temecula Valley wine country including some that are not commonly visited. The time of this ride should approximate 2 hours with stops for brief breaks and photos along the way. Each group will have an experienced leader and 2 or more volunteers (wearing identifying vests) all experienced with group rides through the Temecula Vineyards.
Upon your return, its time for Cycle for Veterans post ride program to begin at 11 AM. Our hosts at _ULTIMATE VINEYARDS (FORMERLY MAURICE CARRIE VINEYARDS)_ will open their kitchen and full menu for the post ride happy hour. Wine pricing: 2 for 1 wine tastings and a percentage discount on all food items! Entertainment and the raffle drawing will follow. The raffle will culminate in a drawing for a GRAND PRIZE of an AVENTON Pace 500.2 E-Bike valued at $1,499! Happy Hour pricing will be in effect from 11 AM until 1 PM!
THIS EVENT WILL BE LIMITED TO 200 PARTICIPANTS! PLEASE REGISTER EARLY! (*Our April event filled quickly and registration closed two weeks early!)
