Get ready for an exciting day of fitness and fun at the DRC Smokin' 5K on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Derby, Sedgwick! This vibrant race kicks off at 7:30 AM and takes place on a USATF certified course that starts and finishes in High Park, winding through the charming streets of Derby, Kansas. Participants can look forward to a supportive atmosphere with awards for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as age group winners, all generously sponsored by Supplement Giant. Every runner will receive a finisher medal and a race shirt, but make sure to register by May 25 to guarantee your shirt!
This year, there’s an exciting twist for early birds: the first 50 registrants will be entered into a raffle to win a fantastic fire pit! Don't forget to pick up your race packet on Friday, June 12, at the Derby Recreation Center from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Organiser's Description
Join us at the Smoke on the Plains BBQ Festival for our Smokin' 5K race! The race will be on Saturday, June 13 at 7:30am. The course is a USATF certified course. It will start and finish in High Park, and will run through the city streets of Derby, Ks. There will be awards for the overall female and overall male, and 1st place age group awards, which are sponsored by Supplement Giant! Finisher medals will be given to everyone who crosses the finish line. Participants will also receive a race shirt! Must register by MAY 25 to guarantee a race shirt.
The Smokin 5K is an event you wont want to miss! So lace up your sneakers, grab your friends, and get ready to smoke the competition.

Packet pick-up will be on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Derby Recreation Center (801 E. Market St. Derby, KS 67037) from 12:00pm-8:00pm at the guest services desk. Please make sure to pick up your packet prior to the race day.
Race Day:
The race is on Saturday, June 13, 2026 and begins at 7:30am.
The start location of the race will be on the North end of High Park between the upper and the lower parking lot section. Road closures will begin at 6:45am so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to the park and get ready for the race.
