Get ready for a fun-filled day at the Effingham County Fair 5K on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the charming town of Altamont, Effingham! This exciting race will kick off a week of festivities, starting and finishing on the horse track in front of the grandstands. Runners will complete a scenic 3.1-mile loop that takes them through the fairgrounds and onto the new ACHS/AGS Track, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere with music to keep the energy high.
Participants can register before July 21st to secure a race shirt, as none will be available on race day. Packet pickup and same-day registration will take place from 6:45 to 7:15 AM, with the race starting promptly at 7:30 AM. Water stations will be conveniently placed along the course, and awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers. Organiser's Description
The Race will start and finish on the horse track in front of the grandstands, you will take a loop around the track out into the fairgrounds finishing on the track where you started and completing 3.1 Miles with music, Start and Finish.
Professional chip timing by Kinetic Timing will be used to time the race.
Register before July 21st to guarantee a Race Shirt. NO SHIRTS AVAILABLE ON RACE MORNING.
Race Morning Packet pickup and Race day registration will be between 6:45 - 7:15am, Race START at 7:30 AM sharp
The runners will begin on the Fairgrounds track in front of the grand stands, complete 4/5th of the track and exit the track on the south entrance road then runners will head toward Gilbert Park between the ball fields and onto the NEW ACHS/AGS Track, complete two loops, grab some water and head back toward the south of Gilbert Park. Then head back on the south entrance road toward the south entrance of the Fairgrounds track near the stables and run another 4/5th of the Fairs track. Water will be position at 1 locations on the course just after the 1st mile (1.15) just as you begin your country grass loop.
Awards will be given to the Top 3 Male and Female Runners.
