Trail Loop - 10.0 miles: You will go by Summit Field twice every loop as well as Turtle Back Parking area. This small redesign allows us to offer more aid after a shorter distance. We found that this was needed in the colder climates of the Febapple versus the Mayapple. This will provide a total of 3 Aid Stations for each 10 Mile loop. Trail Marking We will use orange landscape paint, flagging or flour. We mark using the 3 arrow system. One before the turn, one at the turn and then one on the new trail. Trail Surface and Terrain In short, this course has a little bit of everything: Long stretches of double-wide woods road Meandering single-wide trail About a mile and a half stretch of pavement Miles of soft dirt interlaced with ankle twisting rocks. If there is rain leading up to the day of the race or during the race, it will be almost impossible to avoid certain patches of mud. Good combination of level patches, rolling hills, moderate climbs, and a few very steep ascents and descents PARKING As you enter the Park off South Orange Avenue you will be arriving on Crest Drive. If you drive straight until you get to the wooden gates blocking your access you have to turn right into the parking lot on Bear Lane. The registration area will be in the South Area of Summit field. One entrance is across from the Dog Park entrance. You can park in any of the lots that are on Crest Dr or Bear Lane. Once those are full you need to parallel park on the side of these streets. The park rules state No Parking on grass so be careful. You may have to walk as much as a half mile to registration. The entire circle of Bear Lane and Crest Drive is over a mile long.
