The USATF certified 5k race will wind through the charming historical district of Athens, starting in front of Sandridge Hall and finishing at the 6th lamp post on Beaty Street. Plus, we have a delightful Kids Fun Run that will also take off from the Athens State Campus, featuring a special appearance from Hebrew the Bear to cheer on our youngest participants!
This family-friendly event is not just about the races; it's a full day of fun! Bring the kids to enjoy the fun zone, complete with inflatables, face painting, and delicious hot dogs. Organiser's Description
The Athens State University Alumni Association is hosting the annual Fiddlers 5k Race, Kids Fun Run, and Family Fun Day event. Proceeds from this event will provide scholarships benefit for new and current students and the Nazaretian Scholarship in honor of Dr. Angeline Nazaretian. This fun day will feature a kids' fun zone with inflatables, face painting, and hot dogs. A paid race entry is required to access the fun zone.
Our USATF certified race route will begin and end at Athens State University and will showcase the historical district in Athens. Our Kids fun run will start and end on Athens State Campus and will be highlighted by an appearance from Hebrew the Bear. Our goal is to have 250 runners, showcase the history and beauty of Athens, and provide our community with a family friendly event that everyone can participate in.
IMPORTANT: THE START AND FINISH LINE FOR THE RACE COURSE WILL BE REVERSED FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. THE RACE WILL BEGIN IN FRONT OF SANDRIDGE HALL AND END AT THE 6TH LAMP POST ON BEATY STREET. THE MAP ATTACHED HAS BEEN UPDATED.

The USATF Certified Course will begin and end at Athens State University. This is an out and back course. Course Number: USATF AL23020JE Overall Male and Female 1st-3rd Overall Masters Male and Female 1st-3rd (First over 40 over the line, not on the overall podium) 10-19 Male and Female 1st-3rd 20-29 Male and Female 1st-3rd 30-39 Male and Female 1st-3rd 40-49 Male and Female 1st-3rd 50-59 Male and Female 1st-3rd 60-69 Male and Female 1st-3rd Over 70 Male and Female 1st-3rd This event follows the standard running industry policy: All entry fees are non-refundable. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We reserve the right to change the details of the event without prior notice. Thank you for your understanding on this matter. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations by Sept. 10, 2026 Packet pickup: Friday Sept 25th from 4:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday Sept 26th from 6:00am-6:45am at the Nazaretian House Welcome Center located at the entrance of Founders Circle. -

Kids will have the opportunity to race toward the finish line with Athens State University's Hebrew the Bear. All participants will receive finisher medal and a treat. The kids' will have an opportunity to decorate their bibs on the morning of the race. Kids bibs will be available the morning of the race. They will have an opportunity to decorate the bibs during the 5K race.
