Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie's 2024 Ugly Sweater Run

We can't think of a better way to get into the Holiday spirit than running around a parking lot with friends in our best (worst?) ugly sweater gear!

Join us on Sunday, December 8th for Fleet Feet's 5th Annual Ugly Sweater 5K (un-timed) Fun Run. Now is the time to get creative and start thinking about putting together your best ugly sweater outfits because there will be prizes for those with the best holiday spirit.

Since 12/4 is National Sock Day, all participants will receive a custom pair of Zensah Ugly Sweater socks (scroll down for image), an Ugly Sweater custom bib, as well as a custom handmade finisher's medal (image coming soon). We'll have apple cider and cider donuts after the run and there will be spirit prizes for the best sweaters/costumes. If you've done this run in the past you know that costumes are highly encouraged!



SOCKS HAVE ALREADY BEEN ORDERED AND SIZES ARE LIMITED. REGISTER ASAP TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT ABOUT SIZING.

Registration is online only - there will be no in-store sign-ups for this event. Space is limited, don't wait to sign up and miss out! This event will likely sell out.

Runners & walkers of all paces are encouraged including first-time 5K'ers. The run will take place in the South Hills Malls parking lot. The run course is open to traffic and due to safety concerns, this event is unsuitable for dogs or very small children. We will allow strollers if you are comfortable with the risk of the roads being open to traffic and willing to start in the back to let the pack spread out at the start. If you are bringing a stroller you must allow ample space between you and the runners or walkers in front of you. The use of headphones is strongly discouraged and we promise that you won't need them anyway!

AN EMAIL WILL BE SENT TO ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS ON FRIDAY, 12/6, WITH ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT THE IN-PERSON EVENT, SWAG PICKUP, AND OTHER PERTINENT DETAILS. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE EMAIL ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR RUN SIGNUP ACCOUNT IS A VALID EMAIL THAT YOU HAVE ACCESS TO AND CHECK OR YOU WILL MISS THIS COMMUNICATION WHICH COMES FROM [email protected].

Saturday, 12/7, from 10 am - 6 pm at Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie
Sunday, 12/8, from 8:15 am - 8:45 am likely at the start/finish arch (additional details to follow in pre-run email).



FAQs:
IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE?
The route is open to traffic and this course is therefore not suitable for small children. Please use your best judgment when registering minors for this event.

IS THIS RUN TIMED?
The in-person 5k is an UNTIMED fun run. This event is completely open to all paces, levels, and abilities including those working toward a 5K goal.

DO YOU HAVE A COURSE MAP?
The fun run course is 2 loops around the South Hills Mall parking lot. If you are looking for more information beyond that, this event probably isn't for you ;)

IS THERE A WAITLIST IF THE IN-PERSON EVENT SELLS OUT?
We will not have a waitlist for this event and it generally sells out. If you are considering registering, don't wait and miss out!

I SIGNED UP BUT CAN'T ATTEND, CAN I TRANSFER MY REGISTRATION?
Yes! Since this is an un-timed fun run you can have someone use your name to pick up your bib and run in your place. If they are buying the spot from you, you would handle the economics of that on your end, we don't resell spaces. Please note that sock size swaps may or may not be possible depending on availability.



WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE WEATHER IS BAD ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT?
How dare you even ask this question and risk it happening, lol. The run will happen rain or shine however in the event of anything more than a dusting of snow, we would have the run on the alternate day of Sunday 12/15.

WILL THERE BE ANY WATER ON THE COURSE?
There won't be any water provided. You should bring whatever you think you will need.



WHAT IF I MISS THE EVENT, CAN I PICK UP MY SWAG AFTER?
Yes, you can, anytime during normal business hours. We just ask that you please pick it up before 12/31 when everything will be purged. While we often send reminders about SWAG pickup and try our best to make sure that everyone who pays gets their goodies, the purge date is unfortunately firm.

ARE THERE OPTIONS FOR VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION?
While we aren't doing a virtual option specifically, those who are interested in the event but unable to attend can register and simply pick up their SWAG after the event. All packets must be picked up at Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie, we are unfortunately unable to ship for this event.

WHERE DO THE RACE FEES GO? DOES THIS EVENT RAISE MONEY FOR SOMETHING?
Many of our events raise money for specific causes and/or charities and this information will always be explicitly stated on the race registration page. For the large majority of our events, however, the race fees are used to purchase the giveaway items and other goodies that make our events amazing. We view our races and events as a marketing arm of our in-store business which means that we aren't ever really looking to make a profit on events. This model is vastly different from most events that are profit-driven and this differentiation enables us to put all of the race fees back into the events, making them a fantastic experience for participants. We usually go a bit over the top with food, drinks, giveaways, and other extras to ensure a great time is had by everyone!
