The event kicks off the City of Akron’s beloved Blue Heron Homecoming festival, an environmental celebration offering family-friendly tours, educational activities, and engaging demonstrations. This year’s theme, "The Ripple Effect," reflects the positive impact of community involvement and environmental stewardship.
Runners can enjoy a lively atmosphere with registration starting at 9:00 AM and races beginning at 10:00 AM, all taking place at the Mustill Store Museum, located at 57 West North Street, Akron. Every participant will receive a medal and stylish socks, while supplies last! Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in each age group, as well as the overall top three male and female runners. Strollers are welcome, but please leave your furry friends at home. Children 5 and under can participate for free! The Flight of the Heron is a run that celebrates the continuing renewal of the Little Cuyahoga and Cuyahoga Rivers in Akron. The run kicks off the City of Akrons annual Blue Heron Homecoming festival, an environmental festival that provides family-friendly tours, educational opportunities, giveaways, demonstrations, activities, waterway safety, recreation and community around the Citys largest capital investment in public infrastructure and waterway renewal. This year's festival theme is The Ripple Effect!
Awards go to male and female age group winners and the top three male and female runners overall.
