Fly Me To The Moon

WEATHER POLICY:

We are watching the weather and it appears Saturday may be rainy. The race start time is 9:15pm and the forecast shows that the rain will have moved through by then. If it has not and it is raining, the race will still take place and the start time will not be delayed. If there is lightning we will delay the race in 15-minute blocks until 10pm. At that point the race will be switched to Virtual and medals will be handed out. Runner safety is our primary concern and we will be monitoring the weather using the sophisticated radar at the Neil Armstrong Airport.

THIS EVENT IS ALMOST SOLD OUT! TO ALLOW MORE RUNNERS TO PARTICIPATE WE HAVE OPENED UP THE NO HAT AND VINTAGE MEDAL OPTIONS. (THE VINTAGE MEDAL OPTION IS NOW SOLD OUT BUT THE NO HAT OPTION IS STILL OPEN)

Registrations have taken off this week and we have hit our limit of medals that we ordered. The VINTAGE MEDAL OPTION allows you to come and run the race, and enjoy the fireworks. You will receive the cool light up hat and at your finish you will receive a VINTAGE medal from one our 2023 events, either Fly Me To The Moon, Run To The Moon, or The Cleveland Christmas Run. The NO HAT OPTION allows you to come and run the race, and enjoy the fireworks. You will NOT receive the cool light up hat and at your finish BUT you will receive a VINTAGE medal from one our 2023 events, either Fly Me To The Moon, Run To The Moon, or The Cleveland Christmas Run.

NIGHT RACE

GET YOUR RUNNING SHOES ON AND FLY ALONG THE TAXIWAY AND RUN ON THE AIRSTRIP WITH THE LIT UP RUNWAY LIGHTS AT NIGHT! ENJOY THIS UNIQUE VIEW OF THE AIRPORT FROM THE RUNWAY! JOIN FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FELLOW AVIATION-ENTHUSIASTS AS YOU RUN AT KXAV ON THE FLATTEST COURSE IN THE REGION!

2024 AMENITIES: Runners receive a Top Gun "Top Run" themed medal and "Light Up" hat.

FIREWORKS START AT 10:00PM so runners/walkers can enjoy them during/after the race! The Fireworks are sponsored by the New Knoxville Independence Day Celebration June 29-30th. We will also be bringing back the food trucks after your finish.

MOON CITY CHALLENGE: Register for the Moon Series and receive the extra MOON CHALLENGE Medal for all 3 races! This includes: Fly Me To The Moon (June 29th), Rocket Run 5K (July 4th) and Run to the Moon (July 20th). This is the only place to sign up for all three races and also obtain the moon series challenge medal. Signing up for races individually will not qualify you to receive the moon series challenge medal

VIRTUAL RACE OPTION: If you cannot make any of the races for the "In-Person" events, you have the option to participate virtually for one, two or all of them and still receive the Challenge Medal. The Moon City Challenge Medal will be awarded at the 3rd race in the series.

Wapakoneta/New Knoxville is where Neil Armstrong learned how to fly over these fields in his teenage years. He received his pilot's license when he was only 16 years old. The Neil Armstrong Airport aims to celebrate the past, present and future of aviation with race donations benefiting the Airport's aviation scholarship fund that makes awards to local students, and the New Knoxville Community Park to provide continued park improvements for future generations of families to enjoy.
