With a registration fee of just $25, you'll receive a race shirt, finisher medal, and chip timing. There's also a special 1K Kids Run for young participants for only $10, which includes a finisher medal. As we come together this Memorial Day weekend, let’s celebrate unity and honor our heroes while supporting a great cause—100% of the profits will fund scholarships for local high school students. In honor of Dustin M. Sekula, 18, of Edinburg, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed April 1, 2004 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.
The Freddy Gonzalez Legacy 5K is more than just a raceit is a tribute to Freddy Gonzalez, Dustin Sekula, and all the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. As we come together this Memorial Day weekend, we run not only to remember them but also to ensure that their courage and sacrifice are never forgotten.
