Organiser's Description
Its been fun to offer our returners new courses and formats which have highlighted different parts of Ithaca and its surrounding communities. And, first timers, what hopefully will be another day running one of the most beautiful and finest half marathons in the Country. 2024 will be no different. Heres what were planning:
New Start: Permits Pending, well start stage from Trumansburg High School and start at the intersection of Main and Truman Sts. Runners will set off on the opening mile descending through downtown Trumansburg before bending East and South while rolling through a few hills within Village neighborhoods to begin heading for Ithaca. Theyll pass through the upper tip of Taughannock Falls State Park before reaching the head of the Black Diamond Rail Trail. From there itll be a steady descent along the hard packed gravel surface to arrive back in Ithaca. Once you emerge itll be just under a mile to sail through the finish in front of Island Health and Fitness / Cayuga Sports Medicine along the Cayuga Inlet.
Note: Course configuration may change influenced by factors including Pandemics, Bus Driver Shortages, and Permitting. Were hopeful well be able to again use the configuration above, but its also possible the course configuration will change, even late in the game.
