Organiser's Description
Meet us at Perennial on the Trail for a group bike tour of the history of Grants Trail. The trail is now part of the Gravois Greenway [https://greatriversgreenway.org/greenways/gravois-greenway-grants-trail-river-des-peres-greenway-to-holmes-leffingwell/].
In 1992, Trailnet purchased a 6.2 mile stretch of the Union Pacific Railroad, to convert it to a multi-use trail. This was part of a nation-wide rails-to-trails movement to convert disused railway lines into trails for biking and walking. Trailnet fought for the trail all the way to the Supreme Court!
Since then, Grants Trail has continued to expand, along with a growing network of similar trails, thanks to partnerships between Trailnet, Great Rivers Greenway, and St. Louis County.
Join us to learn more about the trails history! Information prepared and presented by Amanda Clark, of the MISSOURI HISTORICAL SOCIETY
After the ride, stick around to enjoy a craft beer from Perennial Artisan Ales at Perennial on the Trail.
